Validation of Quark CPET for measuring exercise metabolism with mixing chamber

A validation of Quark CPET by Appalachian State University was presented during the 2011 ACSM Annual Meeting.

The objectives of the study by the Appalachian State University were to validate (vs Douglas bag) the COSMED Quark CPET-mixing chamber-metabolic system in measuring metabolic outcomes during low, moderate, and maximal exercise

The conclusion of the study shows that Quark CPET is "did not differ from the Douglas bag system for all metabolic measures including ventilation, oxygen consumption, and carbon dioxide production. The Cosmed Quark CPET-mixing chamber-system accurately measures metabolic measures across all exercise workloads".
