COSMED and Spiropalm 6MWT winners of ERS Product of Outstanding Interest 2013.

COSMED Spiropalm 6MWT handheld spirometer won the 2013 Product of Outstanding Interest (POINT) Award from the European Respiratory Society (ERS) during the ERS Congress in Barcelona (Spain).

The European Respiratory Society has created the Product of Outstanding Interest (POINT) award to recognise devices or equipment that embody innovation, either having the potential for or already demonstrating significant improvements in patient care. The 2013 edition of the ERS Product of Outstanding Interest competition received 58 nominations of products from which the panel of experts selected 4 finalists in 2 categories (Therapeutic and Diagnostics).

Spiropalm 6MWT during the POINT Session on Tuesday September 10, 2013 won in the diagnostic devices category, being selected by an impartial selection group encompassing the 11 Assemblies of the ERS. Spiropalm 6MWT versatility was recognised as a new way of measuring and reporting results for the Six Minute Walk Test (6MWT) by evaluating exercise capacity with integrated pulse oximeter and ventilation measurement.
