Advanced COSMED Solutions at the heart of Turkmenistan’s Olympic Training Innovation
Turkmenistan has inaugurated the first world-class Olympic research and training center in Central Asia at the State Institute of Physical Education and Sports in Ashgabat.
With this milestone, the country joins a select group of nations—alongside Germany, Japan, and the United States—where elite sports training is driven by scientific research and objective performance data.
The center is equipped with advanced technologies used by leading Olympic and professional sports institutions worldwide, including COSMED solutions such as BOD POD, Q-BOX, Q-NRG, and K5, also deployed at the Salt Lake City and Tokyo Olympic Centers.
Initial studies have already generated precise physiological and performance data, which are integrated into individual athlete profiles to support personalized training strategies. The center works in close collaboration with academic departments, providing students with hands-on access to real-world measurements in sports medicine, physiology, and biomechanics.
This initiative aims to enhance the performance of national teams while training a new generation of highly qualified specialists, positioning Turkmenistan as an emerging hub for science-based sport and innovation in Central Asia.
