Resting Metabolic Test with the COSMED Q-NRG for France National rugby union team
Eve Tiollier, nutritionist at French Institute of Sport (INSEP), tells about the importance of knowing the resting metabilic rate for the France National rugby union team.
During the preparation for the Six Nations Tournament in Capbreton, 'Les Bleus' were tested with the COSMED Q-NRG Metabolic Monitor to measure their individual metabolic parameters to develop personalized weight management programs and optimize energy balance.
"In recent years, the concept of RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport) has emerged, the chronic energy deficit in athletes. We therefore measure gas exchange under a canopy hood to target energy expenditure at rest for each athlete. Just because the weight status is stable does not mean that the body has enough energy", said Tiollier in an interview.
Q-NRG is the result of more than 30 years of experience in the design of metabolic systems and uses the Gold Standard Indirect Calorimetry technique.
