US motocross athletes tested in the field with mobile metabolic system K4 b²

Gas exchange measurement tests were performed to off-road motorcycle riders at the Motocross Millsaps Training Facility in Cairo, GA (USA).

According to Clint from Innovative Performance (the company that managed the tests): "Our main reason for buying the K4 was to have a mobile system that will allow us to test in the lab or 'in the sport'. We don't want to be held back just because our sport is on a motocross or supercross track. At the same time, being able to test a cyclist indoors vs outdoors can give you two very different results. Athletes always act differently in the lab. The focus of MTF (Millsaps Training Facility) and IP (Innovative Performance) is to think outside the box with our testing. Hopefully this will help us figure a few things out that we wouldn't have know had we tested motocross athletes on a bicycle indoors. That was really holding us back before..."
