Body composition from birth to 6 mo of age in Ethiopian infants: reference data obtained by air-displacement plethysmography
A new peer-reviewed article published on the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reporting a research study on body composition in a cohort of Ethiopian infants.
The aim of the study was to develop reference data for fat mass and fat free mass from birth to 6 months of age in an African population. Almost 200 babies were tested with the PEA POD in this study with over 2000 test performed over the first 6 months of life of these subjects.
This study represents a first step toward providing a useful reference tool on FM and FFM from an urban sub-Saharan African context, important for clinical care and research.
