Air-Displacement Plethysmography Pediatric Option in 2–6 Years Old Using the 4CM
A validation study has been published on Obesity Journal showing the accuracy and reliability of the newly introduced Pediatric Option Accessory for measuring body fat % in 2-6 years old with the Bod Pod GS.
The objective of this study was to determine the accuracy, precision, bias, and reliability of percent fat (%fat) determined by air-displacement plethysmography (ADP) with the pediatric option against the four-compartment model in 31 children
The study conclusions are that "The BOD POD with pediatric option was valid and reliable in infants and small children between 2 and 6 years of age, thus allowing for the continuity of testing from birth (i.e., PEA POD), to childhood (i.e., BOD POD with pediatric option), and on into adulthood (i.e., BOD POD) utilizing ADP principles and technology".
